The market difficulties of Ukrainian grain imports could be handled with transit support
With European Union transit support, Ukrainian grain could be delivered to its former traditional markets, said István Nagy, who held a meeting with Mykola Solský, Minister of Agriculture and Food Affairs of Ukraine, on Monday.
The head of the ministry recalled that at the July Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting in Brussels, he suggested that a fund be created to support the transit of Ukrainian agricultural products. In this way, it would be possible to deliver Ukrainian grain to its former destination countries, Africa and the Middle East, at a competitive price. According to the minister, a common European solution must be found to manage the process. He explained that free ports must be maintained in both the North and the South for transportation. István Nagy welcomed the recently concluded Ukrainian-Croatian agreement on the use of Danube and Adriatic ports. Our country will support the smooth and fast delivery of goods from Ukraine to these ports. The minister also spoke about the fact that this year’s weather is significantly better than last year’s drought, which is also reflected in domestic agricultural results. But they expect a good harvest not only in Hungary, but also in Ukraine. He emphasized that our country intends to maintain the import ban on Ukrainian agricultural products even after September 15.
