Greek retail sales down
Greece’s retail sales volume index fell 8.1 % in October this year, compared with the same month of 2009, after a decline of 15.5 % recorded in October last year. The statistical service, in a report, pointed out that the October decline reflected a 14.6 % drop in sales of furniture-electric appliances-home equipment, an 11.3-% fall in clothing-footwear, a 10.7 % fall in pharmaceutical-cosmetics and a 9.1 % decline in large food stores. The retail sales turnover index fell 2.0 % in October from the same month last year, after a decline of 14.2 % recorded in October 2009.
