MATE further strengthened its position in the QS agricultural science ranking
The Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences is 151-200 this year as well ranked in one of the world’s most respected higher education rankings, the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) 2024 agricultural science ranking. With this result, the agrarian-focused institution was once again in the top 12 percent of the world in its most important scientific field, and it improved its relative position in the ranking by another 2 percent compared to last year.
“It is a great pleasure for us that with this result, MATE has once again reached the first place in Hungary among the universities associated with agriculture. Within the framework of the MATE 2030 strategy, along with twelve detailed action plans, my colleagues and I will continue to work in order to reach or even overtake our most significant international competitors by the end of the decade. In order to achieve our goals, we have put the university’s understanding of the role on a new basis, so we do not want to follow, but shape the direction of change,” emphasized Rector Dr. Csaba Gyuricza.
Based on the list of results, MATE’s position this year also shows further progress within the 151-200 band, which is also due to the further strengthening of the university’s research network, as well as its academic and labor market reputation. Based on all this, MATE is once again one step closer to its goal of becoming the number one agricultural university in the region.
The British Quacquarelli Symonds (QS), which qualifies higher education institutions, recently published the current QS World University Rankings by Subject, which was compiled by analyzing a total of 1,236 universities in the field of agricultural sciences in terms of their academic and labor market reputation, the number of references to scientific publications, the number of publications by lecturers based on its activities and the extent of the international research network. Among the Hungarian universities, in addition to MATE, Eötvös Loránd University, Semmelweis University, Budapest University of Technology and Economics, and Liszt Ferenc University of Music were able to enter the top two hundred in their fields of study. In the ranking of agricultural sciences, the University of Debrecen is 251-300. followed by the Hungarian University of Agricultural and Life Sciences.
