The price of slaughter cattle has increased further
According to the AKI slaughter statistics, in the January-July 2025 period, cattle slaughter in live weight increased by almost 34 percent compared to the January-July 2024 volume. The slaughter of cows, which account for more than half of all slaughters, increased by 11 percent, and that of heifers by 19.8 percent.

According to the Central Statistical Office (KSH), Hungary’s live cattle exports decreased by 41.3 percent (24 thousand tons) and their value by 24.4 percent in the first seven months of 2025 compared to January-July 2024. The main partners were Poland, Croatia, Austria and Kosovo. Hungary’s live cattle imports fell by 75.6 percent (3.6 thousand tons) and their value by 67.8 percent compared to the previous year. Almost half of the live cattle came from the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The volume of beef exports increased by 51.4 percent (6.8 thousand tons). The volume of beef imports decreased by 14.2 percent (7.8 thousand tons), while its value increased by 17.1 percent in the observed period. According to AKI PÁIR data, the producer price of slaughter cattle continued to increase in weeks 1–36 of 2025: per kilogram of carcass warm weight, the producer price of a young bull was HUF 2027, that of a slaughter heifer HUF 1336 and that of a slaughter cow HUF 1418.
