Chicken meat prices have increased further
According to AKI slaughter statistics, 170,000 tonnes (live weight) of poultry were slaughtered in Hungary in the first three months of 2025, 5.0 percent less than between January and March 2024. Within this, slaughter chickens accounted for 137,100 tonnes (+7.0 percent), and slaughter turkeys for 17,400 tonnes (+3.8 percent). According to European Commission data, the EU average price of whole chickens was 282 euros/100 kilograms in the first eighteen weeks of 2025, which was almost 8 percent higher than the previous year.

According to AKI PÁIR data, the live weight producer price of slaughter chicken in Hungary increased by 5.4 percent to 435.1 HUF/kilogram, and that of slaughter turkey by 3.4 percent to 617.2 HUF/kilogram in the first eighteen weeks of 2025 compared to the same period of the previous year. The processing sales price of chicken breast fillet was 1929.0 HUF/kilogram (+12.6 percent), bone-in chicken breast was 1240.1 HUF/kilogram (+14.5 percent), and the price of chicken breast (total) was 1864.3 HUF/kilogram (+10.9 percent) in the observed period.
