Household consumption of champagne still dropping last year
According to data from the ConsumerScan of GfK Hungária, the number of households buying champagne and sparkling wine continued to shrink last year, dropping to 45 percent of all households. 50 percent of total sales were generated in December. Sales were up in terms of value owing to a higher than inflation increase in price, but dropped substantially in terms of quantity. The market share of private labels remained low, at only 8 percent.
