The Spanish government would take action against food waste
The Spanish government would legislate against food waste, obliging all actors in the food chain to use and recycle the remaining raw materials and products.
Agriculture Minister Luis Planas called the legislation passed at Tuesday’s cabinet meeting to reduce the amount of food thrown away a “pioneering legal instrument”.
According to the ministry, in 2020, every Spanish threw 31 kilograms of food in the rubbish, and the amount wasted in this way exceeded 1.3 million tonnes nationwide. (MTI)
