Employment in the European Union rose to a historic high last year
Employment in the European Union reached a historic high, with seventeen of the twenty-seven Member States reaching their national 2020 target last year – according to data released by the EU’s statistical office (Eurostat) on Tuesday.
In the European Union, the employment rate of the population aged 20-64 rose to 73.1 percent in 2019, from the 72.4 percent in the previous year.
In 2009, during the global financial and economic crisis, the employment rate stood at 68.2 percent, then fell to 67.5 percent by 2013, but has risen steadily since then. (MTI)
