Digital innovation at an all-time high
The digital sub-index has reached a historic high with a spectacular increase of 37 points, according to the first half of the K&H Innovation Index 2025 data. This represents a 7-point improvement compared to the previous half of the year and clearly shows that Hungarian companies with sales of over HUF 300 million are increasingly consciously turning towards technological developments – especially in the fields of artificial intelligence (AI), IoT and digital device use.
According to the first half of the K&H Innovation Index 2025 data, the digital innovation sub-index has risen to a record level at the national level (37 points), but there are significant differences depending on the size of a company’s sales, the sector in which it operates, and the region of the country it is located in.
The smallest are catching up, the largest are stagnating
The biggest jump was made by companies with sales between HUF 1.1–2 billion: the digital subindex value increased by 8 points, from 30 to 38. This jump clearly indicates that a more conscious technological opening has begun among companies that were previously at the middle level, especially in the areas of AI and remote work infrastructure.
Digitalization activity also increased by 8 points among the smallest companies, with sales between HUF 300 million and HUF 1 billion, from 26 to 34), which is an encouraging step forward. In contrast, there was no progress among companies with sales above HUF 4 billion – their digital development dynamics practically stagnated, although it is significantly higher than in all other company categories, at 49 points. This may indicate that many large companies have already achieved the most important goals with their investments in the previous period, but have become more cautious with further developments in the current economic environment.
