They spent more on wieners
According to GfK Hungária’s ConsumerScan, Hungarian households bought 3 percent less wiener in the first eight months of 2009, compared to the same period last year. The average price per kg was 8 percent higher, HUF 920. Prices increased to the same extent among both branded products and private labels, reaching HUF 1,026 and HUF 731, respectively. Branded product sales were stable in the examined period, but private label sales were down by 8 percent.
