More people came, they stayed longer but spent less
A report by KSH reveals that at commercial accommodation sites the number of guests grew by 1.5 percent and 2.5 percent more nights were spent in January-May 2010, compared with the same period last year. At the same time it is bad news that sales revenues fell by 2 percent. In the first five months nearly 1.1 million foreign guests spent almost 3 million nights at commercial accommodation sites – the number of guests and guest nights both increased, by 6 and 4 percent, respectively. In the same period 2 percent less domestic guests spent 1 percent more nights at commercial accommodation sites. The number of guest nights spent at Lake Balaton stagnated; in Budapest there was a 4.5-percent increase. Generated gross sales turnover was HUF 78 billion in January-May 2010.
