Frutti and Veggi tasted more than a ton of vegetables and fruits last year
The European Fresh Team program, the educational campaign promoting the consumption of vegetables and fruits by the National Chamber of Agricultural Economy, continues this year and is also entering its last year. Frutti and Veggi, the two mascots of the program, will once again be waiting for children and families all over the country to introduce them to the super power and diverse taste of fresh vegetables and fruits.
Last year, the European Fresh Team tasted a record amount of vegetables and fruits, more than 1 ton, during its activations: which corresponds to the daily consumption of vegetables and fruits recommended by the WHO (400 grams) for 86 school classes*. Balázs Győrffy, the president of NAK, assessed last year as very successful and said:
“The main objective of the program this year cannot be any other than to draw the attention of as many families with children as possible to the importance of fruit and vegetable consumption. The goal remains to encourage the consumption of fresh vegetables and fruits, which, in addition to being extremely good for health, also has a positive effect on domestic agriculture.”
He also pointed out that if we do this in childhood, involving the family, we can achieve long-term results and thus change the eating habits of the following generations.
