Fertilizer sales prices fell by more than half
In the months X–XII of 2023, compared to the volume traded in the same period a year earlier, 13 percent less fertilizer was delivered to farmers, despite the fact that the sales prices were reduced by almost half in the meantime.
Within the range of products, lime-sammon saltpeter (MAS) sold the most in the observed period, and compared to the same period a year earlier, farmers bought the same amount of it. On the other hand, the demand for urea decreased by a third. The turnover of NPK 15-15-15 almost tripled, while the demand for potash and MAP increased by 3.5 and four times, respectively. Comparing the same two periods, sales prices fell by more than half in the period under review, with the exception of superphosphate and NPK 15-15-15. If we compare the average sales prices of the fourth quarter of 2023 to the third quarter, they continued to decrease, but the prices of potassium chloride, MAP and NPK 15-15-15 rose in the last two months of the year due to increased demand. Prices in the current period fell below the prices of the last quarter of 2021 by 18-34 percent for ammonium nitrate (AN), MAS, Nitrosol, DAM and urea. The prices of other observed products were 7 to 33 percent higher. The IV of 2020 compared to Q4 prices, AN, MAS and superphosphate still had to be paid more than twice as much in the period in question, however, the price multiplier for potash, MAP and NPK 15-15-15 fell between 1.6 and 1.8.
