The processing sales price of white wines increased by more than 70 percent

According to AKI PÁIR data, the sales price of wines produced and sold domestically, without geographical indications, and wines with protected geographical indications increased by 58 percent to 48.4 thousand forints per hectoliter between January and February 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year. Among wines with protected geographical indications, the processing sales price of white wines was 70 percent (49.4 thousand forints/hectoliter), and that of red and rosé wines was about 26 percent (47.1 thousand forints/hectoliter) higher than in the same period of 2025. The majority of wines with protected geographical indications sold domestically were packaged in glass bottles.

The selling price of wines without geographical indications and with protected geographical indications produced domestically and sold abroad decreased by 10 percent to HUF 30.4 thousand per hectoliter in the first two months of 2026 compared to a year earlier. The selling price of white wines with protected geographical indications decreased by 6 percent to HUF 27.7 thousand per hectoliter. Red and rosé wines with protected geographical indications were sold on the international market at a 12 percent lower price, HUF 25.6 thousand per hectoliter, during the observed period. Among red and rosé wines with protected designations of origin produced domestically and sold domestically, the average domestic selling price of Eger wines decreased by almost 4 percent to HUF 62.9 thousand per hectoliter between January and February 2026 compared to the same period in 2025. Among the wines with a protected designation of origin produced domestically and sold abroad, the average selling price of Tokaj white wines increased by 2 percent to 89.4 thousand forints/hectoliter between January and February 2026 compared to the same period of the previous year. The selling price of Eger red and rosé wines with a protected designation of origin was 66.4 thousand forints per hectoliter, a decrease of about 5 percent in the period under review.
