A call for fish farmers was opened with a budget of more than HUF 3 billion
The Hungarian Fish Farming Operative Program Plusz (MAHOP Plusz) represents the basis for the support and development of Hungarian fish farming in the period between 2021-2027. As part of this, the recently published call for tenders entitled “Supporting the role of natural value maintenance of fish ponds” provides resources for businesses, public bodies and civil organizations engaged in extensive aquaculture to preserve the natural value maintenance role of fish ponds – informed the State Secretary of the Ministry of Agriculture responsible for agriculture and rural development.
Zsolt Feldman explained that the purpose of the call for non-reimbursable funds, which does not require self-reliance, is to support extensive fish production based on traditional techniques, the preservation and restoration of nature and biological diversity, and the protection of landscape elements. The obtainable support contributes to the liquidity of the fish farming sector by partially compensating producers for the loss of yield resulting from nature and environmental protection, water management restrictions and the increase in production costs, but for the maintenance of populations of species important for nature conservation and renewable natural resources. too. It will be possible to submit support applications from October 25, 2024, the state secretary explained. The grant can be requested for a lake area of up to 1 hectare, and the condition is a 5-year commitment to preserve nature and biological diversity according to the technical content of the call. The subsidy amount that can be applied for is HUF 40,000 per hectare and per year.
