On September 2, 2025, one of the country’s largest outdoor beer tastings, the 9th Inner City Beer Festival, began. At the event held on Szabadság Square in Budapest, visitors can choose from the offerings of more than 30 domestic and international breweries. SPAR will be represented again this year with its own stand, the SPAR Beer House.

The Inner City Beer Festival opened its doors for the ninth time on Szabadság Square in the heart of Budapest, where beer lovers can enjoy a varied offering from more than thirty breweries, gastronomic experiences, beer knowledge and music programs for six days. The festival reflects the changing consumer habits this year as well: fruity, light brews and non-alcoholic alternatives are becoming increasingly popular. The favorite trends of visitors open to conscious choice – such as lagers, lighter New England IPAs or non-alcoholic options – appear not only in the offer of beer producers and distributors, but also in this year’s selection of SPAR Beer House.

SPAR – as is now tradition – as the main sponsor of the festival will once again appear with its own stand, where selected specialties based on customer needs and the development of the beer market will be on tap and in the fridge. The Happy Cherry and Cute Grapefruit brews – the official beers of the event – bring a fruity freshness specifically tuned for summer, while the BE(ER) COOL LIGHT LAGER or the Free Flow alcohol-free IPA appeal to those who are looking for new experiences without compromise.

“We are delighted that at the Downtown Beer Festival we can not only demonstrate how we respond to consumer trends, but also actively shape them. SPAR now offers more than 250 types of beer, and we consciously strive to give craft and domestic small-scale breweries a prominent role. Everyone can find their favorite at the SPAR Beer House stand – whether they are looking for classic flavors or are open to new things,” emphasized Márk Maczelka, SPAR’s Head of Communications.
