This year’s Adni Öröm! Christmas fundraising campaign helps people in need with more than 223 tons of food
More than 26 thousand packages will reach people in need before Christmas as a result of the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service and SPAR Hungary’s Adni Öröm! campaign. Customers of SPAR stores contributed 223 tons of food to the collection and purchased donation cards for nearly 5.5 million forints, which SPAR Hungary supplemented with an additional 5 million forints.
The Hungarian Maltese Charity Service announced the Adni Öröm! campaign for the 28th time this year in selected SPAR Hungary stores. The Christmas collection started on the first day of the month with the sale of Adni Öröm! donation cards, and the traditional collection based on personal presence and customer outreach took place between December 12-17 in more than 150 SPAR and INTERSPAR stores.
“The motto of our collection this year is: “Christmas reaches everyone this year!” Even a single packet of pasta or a kilogram of sugar goes a long way, because together, many small donations can ultimately add up to a huge amount of help. I am very pleased to report that this year, 223 tons of non-perishable food was donated by SPAR store customers. In addition, the Charity Service will also purchase food from the nearly 5.5 million forints collected from donation cards and an additional 5 million forints donated by SPAR. Thanks to all this, we will be able to make the holidays of more than 26 thousand people in difficult circumstances more beautiful in 2024. On behalf of SPAR Hungary, we thank our customers for their donations and the volunteers participating in the collection for their help,” emphasized Márk Maczelka, Head of Communications at SPAR Hungary. “During the days of the Joy of Giving! campaign, tens of thousands of people decided to help our fellow citizens in need this year as well. We are grateful not only for the donations, but also because we had the opportunity to mediate, if you like, build a bridge for a short time between people living in two different worlds. In SPAR stores, we meet many returning customers who help our work year after year, waiting and looking for the fundraising campaign. We have known the families who ask for help from us for a long time, but for a few years now we have been seeing more and more familiar faces among the customers who support us in the stores. We thank everyone for the donations!”
– said Tamás Romhányi, Head of Communications at the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service.
“The cooperation between SPAR Hungary and its strategic partner, the Hungarian Maltese Charity Service, will continue in 2025: a school supplies collection will start before the start of the school year, and a food collection will start before Christmas. In addition, the company helps people in need with food donations throughout the year through the organization”
– added Márk Maczelka.
