More mayonnaise, ketchup and mustard sold
The market of liquid flavourings expanded in the December 2007 – November 2007 period both in terms of quantity and value. Growth in terms of value was 7 per cent for mayonnaise, 9 per cent for ketchup and 4 per cent for mustard. Mayonnaise sales continued to get more concentrated with hyper markets holding a 38 per cent market share and the 401–2.500 square meter stores 36 per cent. Plastic packaging is increasingly dominant. Private labels hold a market share of 32–38 per cent in terms of quantity. Private labels have an even stronger position in the ketchup market with a share of 35–40 per cent. The market share of larger, 501–2.000 gram sizes is also growing. Private label mustards have a 27–29 per cent market share. 69 per cent of sales in terms of quantity are generated in larger than 400 square meter stores.
