The Dutch authorities seized thousands of consumer tablets containing amphetamine
The Dutch Food Safety Authority (NVWA) seized eight thousand illegal diet pills, which were found to contain amphetamine compounds, considered a hard drug, during laboratory tests, the agency announced on Tuesday.
The tablets were advertised by various sellers at a discount on Internet platforms. Dutch police, together with NVWA inspectors, arrested four suspects for trafficking in illegal substances and searched the homes of three other suspects, where they found thousands of pills and the chemicals needed to make them.
The NVWA has called on Dutch residents not to buy and refrain from consuming products called Iomax, which are advertised as fat-burning pills.
“This illegal product contains amphetamine, which as side effects can cause rapid heartbeat, chest pains, nausea, headache, and increased excitement even after consuming a single piece”
– drew the attention of the office, pointing out that the product also caused strokes in several users.
