Retail transaction tax can take tens of billions
The transaction tax can take approximately the same amount in retail that the crisis tax did. The crisis tax will be eliminated this year.
Although the Orbán-Cabinet has kept its earlier promise, and eliminates the crisis tax, (that brought an annual 30 billion HUF) in 2013, it seems that the government deprives an essentially equivalent sum from the sector with the transaction tax. According to preliminary and rough estimates, this deduction can amount to tens of billions of forints in the retail trade sector. The experts expects an amount between 25 and 30 billion HUF.
Compared to the crisis tax, the main difference will be this time, that the tax will be much more “spread” between the players of retail trade, this tax will not be paid by only a few large companies. (Népszabadság Online)
