Such good grain harvest occurs omly in every tenth year as in 2014, but it is even rarer that yield results of winter wheat and maize are simultaneously outstanding – Vancsura József, the President of the Grain National Association (GOSZ) told MTI.
The Central Statistical Office (KSH) published the 2014 yield results of the important crops harvested during the autumn on Thursday. Almost 9.2 million tonnes of maize was harvested in 2014, 34.7 percent more than in the previous year. The average yield reached 7.74 tonnes per hectare. From wheat 3.5 percent more was harvested than in the previous year; 5.2 million tonnes. The average yield was 4.71 tonnes. (MTI)
