Between October 16th and 26th, the Eger wine region will celebrate the Bull’s Blood: for ten days, cultural, gastronomic and wine-making programs await visitors in Eger and its surroundings. The Egri Bikavér Ünnepi Napok aims to showcase the diversity of the wine region, focusing on Eger’s iconic wine, Egri Bikavér.

The program series takes place in the city’s historic city center, in the Szépasszony Valley and in local restaurants, with tastings, master classes, cellar tours and family events. The organizers aim to create opportunities for personal meetings, conversations and joint celebrations in addition to tasting.

Main programs:

  • Eger Bikavér Wine Gastronomy Days (October 16–26)
The leading restaurants of Eger prepare special wine-food pairings: they recommend Eger Bikavér from the winemaking partners of the given place with the dishes, presenting the wine’s diverse character.

  • Egri Bikavér Grand Tasting (October 17, 18:00–21:00)
The wineries of the Szépasszony Valley, together with guest wineries, offer a tasting, where visitors can taste dozens of bikavér.

  • Egri Bikavér Masterclass (October 17, 16:00–17:30)
Guests registered for the grand tasting will enjoy a professional presentation and tasting of award-winning Egri Bikavérek with the participation of renowned speakers.

  • Egri Bikavér Day (October 18, 15:52)
It will begin with a celebratory cannon shot, followed by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque in honor of the Winemaker of the Year 2025, Tibor Gál at the Kis Dobó on the bridge of the square. The program will end with the inauguration of the new members of the Egri Bikavér Borkovagrend and a joint toast.

  • VIII. Egri Bikavér Wine Cellar Tour (October 25, 11:00–20:00)
Family programs, children’s activities, mini-workshops and a point-collecting game await visitors in the Szépasszony Valley.

  • Egri Bikavér Gala Evening (October 25, 18:00)
The closing event of the wine region will be at the St. Andrea Vineyard in Egerszalók, where guests can taste domestic and international award-winning Egri Bikavér wines. The dinner was composed by chefs Dávid Tóth and Ádám Maksi, and the Egri Bikavérért Awards will be presented during the evening.

  • Egri Bikavér Wine Walk (October 19, 24 and 25)
During the thematic city tour titled “Heroes, writers and the city of wine”, “Géza Gárdonyi” will accompany visitors to the historical sites of Eger, and at each stop a different winemaker will offer his own Bikavér.

The Egri Bikavér Festival is the largest autumn event in the wine region, which, as a meeting point of gastronomy, culture and community experience, shows why Egri Bikavér is one of the most significant wine specialties in Hungary.
