Alfréd Kovács from Édes Vonal Confectionery in Vác won the Sugar-Free Cake of Hungary competition, with his creation “Dreamer”. The Hungarian Confectioners’ Craft Union announced the 2025 competition with the theme “Dobos Cake 140”, paying tribute to József C. Dobos and his iconic masterpiece created in 1884 and first presented to the general public in 1885. In the first round of judging the jury evaluated 34 cakes, six of which were selected to proceed to the next round.

“DCJ Exercise in Style” bears the monogram of the master of the original Dobos cake, while the name refers to both the similarities and differences with the original. The base of the cake is a reinterpretation of the classic Dobos cake. In the contest the second place went to Krisztián Füredi from Hisztéria Confectionery in Tápiószecső for his “Wild Harvest Temptation” cake. In the third place we find the “Curly-Haired Bride”, created by Sándor Rosta and Anita Rábai from Mozart Confectionery in Hévíz.
