Pasta and wine on the top of the import list
The head of the Budapest office of the Italian Institute for Foreign Trade (ICE), Alessio Ponz de Leon Pisani informed us that pasta, wine and olive oil were the most popular food products imported from Italy, followed by tomato, cheese and Parma ham. In Hungary, it is mostly deli stores where pasta, vino and other delicacies can be bought. Hyper- and supermarkets also sell the most popular Italian food products. According to the ICE’s representative, consumer prices of Parma ham or mozzarella are often unreasonably high, obstructing sales growth. They organise Italian weeks in hypermarkets and in April 43 olive oil producers will introduce themselves in Hotel Boscolo.
