Body care when it is cold outside
Economic recession and changing consumption trends made great changes in the body care market in the last few years – Katalin Rosta, junior shopper & customer marketing manager of Unilever informed Trade magazin.
Thanks to modest improvement in the economic situation and the innovation activity of manufacturers the market is able to grow year after year. In the winter season, when the weather is cold and windy, especially deep moisturising product sales increase, together with sales of those for dry and extra dry skin. In this season those consumers who don’t use body care products in other periods of the year are looking for special products for those parts of the body that get dry easily. With its Dove and Baba brands Unilever is already preparing for the winter season: Baba Deep Moisturising Body Lotion and Dove limited edition Winter Care will soon appear in stores –in Christmas gift pack format too. Viktória Tantics, brand manager with Beiersdorf Kft. told our magazine that in this period demand increases for hand creams. Their shea butter product Smooth Sensation and Repair&Care hand creams are both very popular. Beiersdorf’s experience is that in winter sales of universal product improve as well. For instance consumers typically use the classic blue tin NIVEA Creme as ‘cold cream’ because it protects the skin very efficiently. Even those who don’t use boy lotion in the summer start using them in the winter period, for them in-shower body lotions can be the perfect solution, for instance Ms Tantics’ favourite is NIVEA Cocoa Indulging body lotion. Adél Farkas, marketing coordinator of Caola Zrt. told us that their new CaoNatur creamy care shower gel, with its very pleasant almond scent and creamy freshness, can become a winter favourite this season. The company’s Hand Balm is perfect for evening use, while for the daytime they recommend CaoNatur Moisturising Hand Cream with shea butter and almond oil. Ms Farkas’ favourite body lotion is Caola Hypoallergen Body Lotion, and when her skin gets drier than usual she turns to the CaoNatur Body Lotion with hibiscus and she uses CaoNatur Moisturising Hand Cream. According to Annamária Marinova, the head of consumer marketing at Presto-Pilot Kft. consumers are becoming increasingly conscious and a growing number of them realise the advantages offered by natural cosmetics. Dr Organic body lotion milks, butters and souffles are popular because unlike traditional body care products they don’t contain petroleum extracts. Dr Organic body lotions are made with vegetable oils that nourish and balance the skin in the long run. The brand offers 12 different shower gels that can be paired with 12 various body lotions and 5 body care souffles or butters. Prices vary between HUF 2,300 and 2,800. Zoltán Kiss, commercial director of Creative World Kft. opines that consumers are very loyal to the body care products they use. Himalaya Herbals products are 100-percent natural origin and represent the highest quality. The Christmas period is very important for the company: they expect a lot from their gift packs, which are available at excellent prices and contain ‘free’ products too. Not only classic Himalaya Herbals body lotions are successful but also general skin creams. Himalaya Herbals nourishing skin cream is perfect for all skin types, while the intensive moisturising cream soothes dry and very dry skin in the winter months – these products are made using a new formula from this season.
