Brushing teeth more frequently
One of the signs of the spreading of health-consciousness is that more toothpaste and toothbrushes were sold last year than a year earlier. This was one of the findings of the market research company ACNielsen. After the stagnation of earlier years, 4 per cent more toothpaste was sold last year, while sales of toothbrushes also show 14 per cent growth. Hungarians consumed an average of 1.1 toothbrushes and 0,25 litres of toothpaste last year. Retail sales of toothpaste amounted to HUF 9 billion. Electric toothbrushes have become cheaper. As a result, 269 thousand were sold compared to 245 thousand a year earlier. Retail sales of toothbrushes is concentrated with hyper markets accounting for 40 per cent and drugstores for another 32. Hyper markets also hold the biggest market share in the sales of toothpaste, but traditional stores still held 22 per cent.
