Hungarian livestock in numbers
The cattle population’s growth that lasts since 2010 has continued. The number of pigs and sheep in the last six months remained virtually unchanged. According to the flash report of KSH, hens decreased properly to seasonality, compared with June.
According to data of 1 December 2015, the number of cattle increased by 18 thousand, compared to 1 December 2014 and amounted to 821 thousand. The cow population increased by 9 thousand in a year. The number of pigs was 3.1 million, 11 thousand less than a year ago. The number of sows decreased by 3.5 thousand compared to December 2014. The number of hens was 32.4 million, 1.9 million higher than a year before. The number of laying hens is 12.4 million and increased by 443 thousand over a year. The sheep population is 1.2 million, the number of ewes was 849 thousand, their number is almost the same as in December 2014. (by our colleague)
