Milk procurement price: dream and reality
On Sunday evening 250 decision makers from the milk sector gathered to discuss how to cope with the market disturbances caused by over-production. Ake Hantoft, president of Arla told that the price of mass products hit an historic nadir in the previous 12 months. He said that the EU’s intervention prices were favourable for the market. German milk producing farmers dreamt of procurement prices of 40 cents per litre, instead of the present 21-24 cents. Mark Voorbergen of Rabobank thought 30 cents per litre was more realistic.
