Domestic potatoes will run out of stock for the Spring
This year’s domestic potato crop will not last after February and high potato prices are expected until then. If Hungarian potatoes will run out of stock, imports are needed, that may bring an additional 15-20 percent price increase – Világgazdaság wrote on Thursday.
According to the newspaper’s article, in the months starting from the end of winter, the domestic potato market will almost entirely rely on imports only, so it is expected that the experienced wave of potato eprice increase will come again in February.
In April and May 2013, up to around 300 HUF potato prices occurred at the markets that was eased somewhat with the appearance of new potatoes, but again a subsequent drought has worsened the expectations. (vallalkozoinegyed.hu, MTI)
