Nébih held a spring inspection of propagating material
The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih), the propagating material and plant health inspectors of the county government offices, and the experts of the National Tax Agency (NAV) held a joint inspection at the National Animal and Landing Fair in Ónod. The aim of the inspections was once again to detect illegal propagating material trade and to call for correct market behavior.

During the inspection, more than 100 fruit trees were destroyed on site, and in several cases, Nébih experts initiated official proceedings. The on-site destruction carried out due to non-compliance had to be ordered due to the lack of a label (plant passport). In addition, the varietal identity of the plants offered for sale continues to be a problem. In the case of fruit and ornamental plant propagating materials, experts also found frozen and dried roots in root-packed lots. In several cases, the entire plant was dried up. The authority destroyed red currant, black currant, gooseberry, and sea buckthorn lots on site. In two cases, grape propagating material was sampled for cultivation. There were also non-species-identical lots sold as pecans. In two cases, proceedings were initiated due to official non-compliance.
The Nébih draws the attention of market vendors to the inspection experiences of recent years
According to them, propagating material vendors do not or hardly take into account the legal requirements for the production and distribution of fruit and grape propagating materials, and in addition, basic professional and ethical criteria are not met. Nébih also requests the cooperation of market and fair operators in not allowing traders who do not have a phytosanitary registration to move out of their sales areas when renting out their sales areas. Otherwise, their activities will be considered illegal. Nébih – with the involvement of partner authorities – will continue to take the necessary steps in the future to completely eliminate illegal distribution.
