Last year, fewer people visited Austria
In 2009, the number of guest nights slightly decreased by 1.9 percent in Austria. The Hungarian travelers spent 8.8 percent fewer guest nights in the country.
According to the preliminary datas of the Austrian statistics office, released on Monday; foreign and domestic visitors spent a total of 124.25 million guest nights in Austria last year. This is an exceptionally good data, compared to 2008. It is a 1.9 percent decrease, but it is still the fifth best result, which have ever appeared in Austrian statistical statements. The number of domestic visitors, increased by half a million (1.6 percent) however, the number of foreign guest nights, decreased by 3.3 percent – reports Origo.
