            Last Easter ham retail sales improved in both value and volume

  Last year in the Easter period (March-April) Hungarians spent more than HUF 5 billion on ham, 4 percent more than in the previous year. Volume sales climbed 5 percent, to 3,300 tons. Volume weighted average price was HUF 1,594/kg, 1 percent lower than a year before. Manufacturer brands’ market share was 69 percent in the last two years. People bought 74 percent of their ham in stores with a floor space above 400m² – a year earlier this ratio was only 72 percent. One-kilogram and bigger hams realised 63 percent of value sales and the 100-249g segment’s share was 33 percent last March-April.
