Consumer prices were up 2.8 percent on average last year
According to a report by the Central Statistical Office (KSH), consumer prices were 2.8 percent higher in 2018 than in 2017; food prices jumped 4.2 percent. In comparison with December 2017, food prices were up 4.7 percent in December 2018. Seasonal product prices (potatoes, fresh fruits and vegetables) grew by 22.4 percent. Flour’s price augmented by 10.5 percent, but the price of sugar dropped 12.9 percent. Alcoholic drink and tobacco product prices grew by 5.2 percent. We had to pay 2.3 percent more for services. The price of household energy became 1.2 percent higher. //
