Long-term egg shortage to come?
Eggs can be twice as expensive this year’s Easter than a year ago. No matter how incredible it is, Hungarians should prepare for a long-term egg shortage in Hungary, the solution is expensive imports.
Last year during the Easter holidays an egg cost 30-32 HUF, now it costs 10 HUF more. Molnár Györgyi, Secretary of the Egg and Poultry Association does not exclude the possibility of a 60 HUF price either.
In the two largest supplying countries in Poland and in Spain the construction of the EU conform chicken cages are under way, there is no export activity so egg shortage occurs all over Europe. (Népszabadság Online, Czauner Péter)
