The Russian pork embargo remains: breeders have to look for new markets
New markets will be required if the Russian pork embargo lasts longer. The action over the past few months has caused a loss of 580 million euros in exports to the EU pig farmers – Világgazdaság Online wrote.
Currently the producers are looking for alternative sales sources, but this will not be the long-term solution to the problem – Tóth István, secretary of the Agricultural Cooperators and Producers' Association (MOSZ) told Világgazdaság. Hungary – like other EU countries – can export only to third countries and to the United States, but in many cases it does not pay. There is the demand in Japan, South Korea and other Far Eastern countries, but the delivery costs are too high. (Agyagási Edit, vg.hu)
