Facilitation of land use change through social consultation
Based on the Strategic Plan of Hungary’s Common Agrarian Policy (KAP), the social consultation of the draft call for tenders entitled “Investments promoting land use change and their maintenance” has begun.
The primary goal of the call is to strengthen the ecosystem services of agricultural areas, to stop and reverse the decline in biodiversity through the development of favorable habitats for pollinators, small game species or bird species bound to agricultural areas, or protection against soil erosion. To this end, the proposed call for tenders intends to support the planting of perennial crops for the purpose of biodiversity protection, the establishment of erosion protection grass strips in arable areas and permanent crops, the establishment of grass and shrub strips in arable areas, and the planting of lawns in arable areas.
In addition to the implementation of non-productive investments that promote land use change and the restoration of habitats, their maintenance will also be supported
The implementation of developments and their maintenance serve not only environmental and nature conservation values, but also sustainable agricultural production. The published draft support scheme is the result of extensive professional consultation, but it is important that anyone can give their suggestions. The draft is available on the KAP thematic page of the Ministry of Agriculture at the address kap.gov.hu, comments are possible until June 9, 2024.
