Information report on spring agricultural work
The winter of 2024–2025 was – similarly to previous years – warmer than the multi-year average, but did not reach the record warm level of the winter of 2023, which is considered the warmest since 1901. From the weather point of view, one of the most important features of this winter was the lack of precipitation at the national level: the amount of precipitation fell was only 57 percent of the multi-year average.
The unfavorable weather conditions also affected the progress of agricultural work. According to operational reports, the sowing area of spring-sown arable crops in 2025 is expected to be about 2 million hectares. As of April 16, 21.2 percent of the planned sowing had been completed. The sowing of vegetables nationwide was 24.3 percent complete, while that of cereals was 20.8 percent.
