The National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) informs farmers that the registration obligations regarding plant protection activities are still in force. Accordingly, all plant protection treatments carried out in the 2025 calendar year must be recorded in the electronic Farming Log (eGN) by 31 January 2026 at the latest. The deadline for nitrate data reporting, which affects many farmers, remains unchanged at 31 March.

Plant protection treatments carried out this year must be uploaded to the Nébih electronic register by 31 January 2026 at the latest. However, it is important to highlight that data on plant protection interventions must be recorded in the Spraying Log (PN) within 24 hours by farmers producing on a total area of more than 10 hectares who carry out insecticide treatments on arable crops (according to the utilization codes applied on the Single Application interface). It is also important that if the farmer keeps the Spraying Log in the eGN program, it is not necessary to record the spraying data separately on the Single Application interface, as the data submitted to Nébih is automatically forwarded to the Hungarian State Treasury.

Nébih also draws the attention of farmers to the fact that, based on the provisions of the related legislation, the scope of data to be recorded in the Spraying Log will change from 1 January 2026.

According to the new regulation, during plant protection treatments, the phenological state of the treated crop, i.e. the development phase according to the BBCH scale, and the start date of spraying must be indicated in the log. The office will implement the necessary modifications in the 2026 electronic Spraying Log and provide farmers with detailed descriptions for providing BBCH data.

In addition to recording spraying data, nitrate data provision also affects many farmers, so it is important to emphasize the related obligations.

According to the relevant regulation, all affected farmers must keep records of their agricultural activities in nitrate-sensitive areas. Similar to previous years, the data of the register must be recorded and submitted by March 31 of each year for the previous financial year.

The register must be kept with the data content specified in Annex 6 of the regulation

The Nébih asks the economic operators to keep the registers in compliance with the relevant deadlines and to assist in compliance with the legal requirements and the smooth use of subsidies by recording data regularly.
