Hungarian and Moldovan relations must be made closer
Agriculture Minister István Nagy discussed agricultural, food industry and plant breeding issues with Dumitru Alaiba, Moldova’s minister responsible for economic development and digitalization, in his office on Wednesday morning.
The head of the ministry drew attention to the important role of the Hungarian-Moldovan Economic Joint Committee, which meets on Wednesday and Thursday, in expanding the cooperation between the two countries. He explained that the issue of security became even more important in connection with the Russian-Ukrainian war. Predictability is a key issue, because this is how the economy can be further developed and investors can be attracted to the country. The Moldovan market is also important for Hungarian companies and enterprises, because there are further opportunities for Hungarian enterprises. The export of the domestic agricultural and food industry specifically helps to strengthen our economy, and the activities of the two countries complement each other well, which we must exploit, he added.
István Nagy also touched on the fact that investments have a serious social impact, which is extremely important in the case of a developing economy
Our country is ready to share its experience in the field of agriculture and food industry. Technological developments can further expand the Moldovan economy in the fields of seed production and animal husbandry. The minister emphasized that it would be important if there were collaborations in university and academic life, which could further strengthen the economy of the two nations, because in this way we could raise our relations to a higher level. He explained that agriculture is a strategic sector, along which it is worth strengthening our partnership. In order to further strengthen the cooperation between the two countries, the Minister of Agriculture, István Nagy, will travel to Chisinau during the autumn for an official working visit to discuss with his Moldovan counterpart.
