Tourism has been one of the biggest economic losers in the coronavirus pandemic, so the government is supporting the development of the sector and taking another step towards normalizing life, Szijjártó Péter, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade said on the foundation stone ceremony of the Water Children’s Paradise in Gyula’s Castle Bath.

Government backs tourism

The head of the ministry emphasized that the Hungarian tourism sector had also faced great difficulties in the recent period, so official measures were needed.

He pointed out that in order to increase competitiveness, the government has also used budgetary resources to finance developments in this area. He added that in addition to subsidies, Hungarian tourism was a huge help to Hungarian tourism, as last year almost ten million people spent 29 million guest nights in the country’s accommodation, which is an increase of 25 percent, compared to 2020.
