Sziget-HORECA: from bread to Michelin-stars
Besides multiculturality, a versatile gastronomic background is present at Sziget. In addition, besides international cuisine from India, China, Transylvania, Thailand and Greece, five points selling corn, 5 lángos-, 5 pizza-, 5 breadlángos-, 3 giant-pancakes, 4 vegetarian-and bio places, and 9 hotdog-selling places are waiting for all hungry visitors. Of course, the menu also includes sausages, hams, grill-food, roasted vegetables and grilled meats. And of course, to avoid the feeling of being thirsty: you will be able to buy beverages at 81 pubs, 15 wine-places, 5 schnaps-hauses and plenty of places where they sell beer. This year, organizers have introduced a special wristband available for those over 18 only, so that caterers would see who are allowed to drink alcoholic beverages at Sziget.
However, this is not all when it comes to culinary adventures. Exciting flavours, such as the so-called „sokác bean” and „pljeskavica” are available, for example: squid, carp, hake, and of course shrimp, frog legs are part of the menu, together with the fishersoup a'la Szeged art. In the VIP-sector, the best restaurant of Óbuda Pastarami, the first restaurant of Hungary awared with a Michelin-star Costas will offer special dishes, among many others to the VIP-guests and the international stars of the main Stage.
And of course, there will be several grocery stores, markets, bakeries to please every hungry visitor, too.
Every year, thousands of French and Italian guests are returning to Sziget. So, the organizers of the festival have decided to offer them a seperate camping, with Italian and French restaurants. For example, the French Camping and RESTRO set up in front of the World Music Main Stage is not only going to be the center of Sziget-inhabitants from France, but also the headquarter of French gastronomy which is under UNESCO protection, by the way.
