Sesame seed allergy: the new regulation doesn’t work
In the USA sesame seed has been put on the official list of allergens, which means that it now falls under the scope of strict rules, including labelling and production regulations. However, the new rules are so stringent that they actually backfired: certain baking companies find it simpler and less expensive to add sesame seed to a product and to label it than to try to keep it away from other foods or equipment with sesame. //
