Anyone can be nominated for the award who has been active in the field of Hungarian hospitality for at least 25 years with outstanding success, has an impeccable professional history and an exemplary life path, cherishes the historical traditions of Hungarian hospitality and feels committed to its renewal, supports the professional development of the younger generation, and contributes to the in promoting Hungarian hospitality.

The recognition can be given to the best in the hospitality industry, no more than three per year.

• Kálmán Kalla, Zoltán Hamvas and dr. Balázs Draveczky (posthumous) – 2014.
• László Jakabffy, János Garaczi and Lajos Bíró – 2015.
• Frigyes Vomberg and János Czubor (posthumous) – 2016.
• Balázs Csapody – 2017.
• Tibor Rosenstein – 2018.
• Tibor Meskál, Szabina Szulló and Tamás Széll – 2019.
• László Csizmadia, Attila Molnár – 2020.
• Gyula Berkes, Szabolcs Dudás and Szilárd Dudás – 2021.

Anyone can make a proposal for the Károly Gundel Award. The condition for this is to fill in the data sheet that can be downloaded from the MVI website and return it to the organization’s address by midnight on September 9, 2022.

The Industry Council will announce the names of the awardees at a press conference held at the Hungarian Trade and Catering Museum on September 23, 2022, on Károly Gundel’s birthday.

The presentation of the award will take place in a ceremonial setting on October 16, 2022, at the MVI Gala Dinner in the Gundel Restaurant in Budapest, with the participation of many major figures in the profession and the press.
