Alexandra Szentkirályi: from August, 15 percent food price promotions protect families and pensioners
Starting in August, 15 percent food price reductions will protect families and pensioners, the government spokesperson said on Tuesday in a video shared on Facebook.
Alexandra Szentkirályi said in a video uploaded to the government’s social media page: the inflation that had risen due to the war that has lasted for a year and a half and the “Brussels sanctions” had been put on a “declining path”.
One of these inflation-reducing measures was the food price freeze introduced a year and a half ago, which – according to the spokesperson – has already fulfilled its mission, so it can be phased out at the end of July.
He added that from June – in order to protect families and pensioners – the government imposed mandatory minimum price reductions of 10 percent on grocery stores. These food price campaigns are taking place in an orderly and effective manner, the price reductions take a significant burden off families and contribute to the further reduction of inflation.
Alexandra Szentkirályi called it a new measure that the amount of the discount in the price promotions will be even greater: starting in August, 15 percent food price promotions will protect families and pensioners.
