St. Francis-day pepper festival held in Szeged-Alsóváros
A festival presenting the paprika-growing traditions will be held on Saturday in Szeged-Alsóváros – Petri Márta, the head of the Franciscan Visitor Centre told MTI.
Certainly the Franciscan friars were the first on the Southern Great Plain, who planted paprika in this region, first as an ornamental plant, and later used for healing as well. The paprika pálinka was useful to treat insect bites externally, while its consumption was excellent for the “three-day chills,” the malaria. (MTI)
