The EU would ban the thin plastic bags
The European Parliament (EP) adopted rules on Tuesday that would repress the use of polluting plastic bags made of thinner material than 50 microns.
Under the new regulation, the Member States of the Union can choose from two options: by the end of 2019, the average annual bag use should be decreased to 90 per capita and by the end of 2025 to 40 per capita or from 2018 they undertake that the customers will not be given such plastic bags. According to 2010 data, an average EU citizen uses nearly two hundred of these bags in a year. These can not be reused usually, so they end up in the trash polluting the environment. (MTI)
