Many products may disappear from Lidl’s shelves
In addition to food, the Lidl supermarket chain also offers drugstore goods, clothing, household appliances and tools in its stores, but this may change as early as next year, reports KOSMO magazine following Index.
As Lebensmittelzeitung reported, one of Europe’s leading discount store chains will remove many products from the non-food segment by the end of the year. The sales of non-food products and products in the price category above 20 euros have fallen significantly in recent weeks and months compared to previous periods.
According to the shops’ assumption, the reason why these items are placed in the shopping cart less and less often is that consumers are becoming more frugal due to the rising energy prices. Due to changed consumer behavior, Lidl has decided to offer significantly fewer products in the non-food industry segment by 2023, and it is possible that other food chains will follow suit, notes KOSMO.
