Nébih suspends bakery plant
The inspectors of the National Food Chain Safety Office (Nébih) encountered hygiene conditions posing a serious food safety risk during an inspection of a bakery in Tiszavasvár. Due to the violations discovered, the unit’s activities were suspended with immediate effect. In addition, approximately 207 kg of food were withdrawn from circulation. The procedure and the imposition of a fine are in progress.
The Nébih experts identified serious food chain safety deficiencies in the Tiszavasvár bakery during an on-site inspection. In several rooms of the unit, the floors were damaged and dirty, the walls, equipment, and tools were dirty and covered in cobwebs. Numerous insect carcasses were visible by the windows. Paint was peeling off the ceiling and walls in several places in the production rooms.
In addition to the hygiene problems, the inspectors found that the food business was keeping incomplete production and traceability documentation related to the food produced.
Due to the serious deficiencies, the Nébih suspended the unit’s activities with immediate effect. The authority also immediately withdrew 20 items, a total of 207.2 kg of untraceable or expired food from circulation, prohibited their placing on the market and use, and ordered their official seizure.
It also ordered the recall of food produced in the food business facility before 24. 09. 2025 that still had an appropriate shelf life or shelf life.
The unit was allowed to continue its activities after correcting the food hygiene and food safety deficiencies and following a favorable on-site inspection by the authority. The procedure and the determination of the fine are in progress.
