Frying healthier: 5 tips to get the most out of your airfryer
Although many people vow to eat healthier and cook more for themselves starting in the new year, it is difficult to maintain motivation after a month or two, especially when we are talking about the several hours of preparation, cooking, and packing. Fortunately, with the help of the hot air oven, the star of recent years, we can prepare a complete lunch in up to 15 minutes, and we also save on excessive oil consumption. Rama has now collected a few tips and recipes on how to get the most out of our airfryer even during weekdays.
Adjust the size to the food
When buying an airfryer, you should think carefully about how many people you plan to cook in it. A medium-sized appliance can already be ideal for two people, but if you are cooking for yourself, you can even prepare the side dish and toppings at the same time. However, for families with children, it might be worth looking at the XL and XXL sizes, which, although they are more expensive due to their size, can save a lot of time if the food is prepared in one round. It is also recommended to measure the amount of prepared food, because if the oven basket is too crowded, it is not certain that the food will be prepared evenly, so it may be worth shaking it more often. For the best texture, if time permits, the food can also be cooked in smaller portions, thus avoiding that the stacked layers do not cook properly.
Don’t overdo it with fat
Thanks to their design, hot air ovens allow you to prepare tasty dishes without the need for a large amount of oil. However, this does not mean that we can prepare all dishes completely without fat. In order to prepare semi-finished mirelit dishes, you usually do not need extra fat, because these products are already pre-cooked. If you chose the device for health reasons and you use fresh vegetables and protein sources, it is worth adding the selected fat to the ingredients during preparation. In this way, we can not only pay attention to the calorie content, but the ingredients will cook more evenly, and the food will not be soaked with too much oil. For example, you can mix Rama’s butter alternative with fresh herbs, and if you stir the vegetables into it, you can increase the complexity of the flavors.
