Urgent resources were provided to help the needy in food shopping in Italy
Four-and-a-half billion euros urgent budget aid willhelp Italians in financial difficulties to buy groceries, medicines and vital supplies during the new coronavirus pandemic (Covid-19) – according to Prime Minister’s announcement-. Giuseppe Conte on Saturday night asked the big companies and producers to support the needy.
The sum is transferred from the so-called national solidarity fund to the mayors. In addition, an additional 400 million euros from civil protection funds will be distributed to nearly eight thousand Italian cities for “helping with shopping”. It is envisaged that applicants will receive the subsidy in cash rather than in vouchers. (Sárközy Júlia, MTI)
